A breathakingly beautiful heirloom quilt in a stunning Rose Cross appliqué pattern in turkey red and overdyed green against a creamy white background
Not only is the appliqué incredibly executed, but the quilting is a work of art in itself. Look at some of the closeup photos to see the floral motifs ‘etched’ into the quilt with tiny stitches
The red and green fabrics have a gorgeous patina from age but remain strong
Notice the vine border full of leaves and buds
Very generous size and will be beautiful on a larger bed
Maker/origin unknown
Washed by hand and in truly remarkable condition, being almost two centuries old. There is one small area on the vine where some of the green has faded to a yellower tone, which is often seen with this dye.
Measurements: 80” x 98”
