Birds in the Air Quilt
Pattern: Birds in the Air
Date: c. 1920-1930
Provenance/Notes:
A breathtaking yellow and white quilt with well over a thousand birds across her surface, framed with a double Flying Geese border and embellished with Lemoyne stars at her corners
Notice how the Flying Geese blocks come together in the middle of each side, with a little flower quilted into the white space of the meeting point
This quilt has very unique dimensions of 62” x 102” and with her extra long length is particularly well suited for draping over the body of a king bed as an accent piece. She would also be beautiful used vertically on a twin with extra length to wrap under and around a pillow.
Soft and drapey and full of sunshine
Maker/origin unknown
Washed by hand and in great condition with just a couple tiny pinprick marks and wear along the trim.
Measurements: 62” x 102”
15% of profits from every quilt sale in this next collection will go towards supporting the work of an organization in the Shenandoah Valley — the Eastern Panhandle Empowerment Center (EPEC)— a non-profit, community-based agency that was founded in 1977 by a group of community volunteers who wanted to help women who were being abused by their partners. Since then, EPEC has grown into a comprehensive resource and counseling center offering service to the region. For more about their work, please visit www.epecwv.org

Please see www.flyinggeese.co/faqs for more information on shipping.
Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.
Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
