Details:
an incredibly rare 19th century quilt with a solid black fabric pieced against a soft periwinkle blue print
a stunning contrasting fabric on back — a homespun plaid in blue and brown tones, pieced in 3 panels (one of the characteristics of a homespun fabric created on a narrower loom)
a medium weight quilt that has been densely quilted, giving it a lovely hand and heft
evidence of age and use on this quilt only adds to her charm — the wear along her trim and the bit of discoloration that remains in places
washed by hand and in very good and sturdy condition for her age, with just the aforementioned signs of age

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness.
