Pattern: Checkerboard Block

An absolutely delightful quilt with tiny checkerboard blocks only 4.5” wide in an incredible variety of red calico fabrics. 110 blocks in total!
Densely quilted in a one-inch grid. Take a look at the photo of the back to appreciate the texture.
This is a great quilt both for cozy snuggles as well as study of turn-of-the-century red prints.
Notice the scrappy sawtooth border that frames the quilt
The background is a lovely natural muslin with a pleasing hand, which is also used on the back.
This quilt has a nice layer of batting which gives it more of a medium weight.
Maker/origin unknown
Washed by hand and in very good condition for her age with just a few very small residual marks and three or four triangles on the border that are showing a small touch of wear. See last photo.
Measurements: 70” x 77”

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep.
