Clover and Honeysuckle Double Irish Chain Quilt

$0.00
sold

I saw her lift her honeyed muzzle

into the leaves, and her thick arms,

as though she would fly -

an enormous bee

all sweetness and wings -

down into the meadows, the perfections

of honeysuckle and roses and clover -

to float and sleep in the sheer nets

swaying from flower to flower

day after shining day.

-Mary Oliver / from Happiness

Honeysuckle and roses and clover, this quilt is an homage to the warmth and beauty of summer. Her colors will also transition beautifully into the colors of the fall season. She’s pieced with turkey red and yellow squares and enlivened by her happy four-leaf clovers in the white spaces. Note the concentric outline quilting around each clover — a wonderful touch that brings each clover to life! A medium weight piece, this quilt lays beautifully and will make a stunning accent on your bed or folded over the back of a chair or sofa. She has been thoroughly washed by hand and hung to dry and is in very good condition with just some wear on a few places on the trim and some turkey red squares that have some fading. The name ‘Garon’ has been lightly written on the back of one corner, likely the family name of the maker. This quilt is ready to be adopted into her new family!

Measurements: 76.5 x 79.5

PLEASE SELECT SHIPPING FOR QUILT ($20), NOT FOR A SMALL QUILT PIECE ($10). ORDER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHIP OTHERWISE.

All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards House of Ruth — an organization in DC that supports women (and their children) who are victims of domestic violence.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
