a scrappy wonder, this Courthouse Steps quilt — a difficult pattern to piece! — is filled with a playful variety of fabrics in a wide range of colors
notice the unexpected groupings of color throughout; dark and light areas alternate across much of the quilt, but the pattern is disrupted toward the edges
in several areas, clusters of fabrics and color families gather together, giving the quilt a lovely asymmetrical colorscape
framed by a soft overdyed green double border
several logs in a few of the blocks were meticulously replaced by hand using period fabrics, giving this quilt new life
washed by hand and in very good condition for her age with onee block that has a few brown strips showing some wear, and some light residual discoloration in a few of the lighter areas (see last photo)

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep.
