Drunkards Path Patch Quilt

$0.00
sold

Two gardens, the front
for beauty, the back
for use. Sleepless now,
I wander through both
and it is summer again,
the long summers of youth
as I trace small paths
in a trance of growth:
flowers pluck at my coat
as I bend down to help,
or speak to my aunt,
whose calloused hands
caressing the plants
are tender as a girl's.

John Montague / from Paths

There’s something so pleasing about the Drunkard’s Path block pattern, both in its geometry and its curvy playfulness. This elegant quilt really highlights the block itself, with her alternating negative white spaces and the lovely cinnamon pink border. Each one is like a little maze or garden, a path of indigo or shirting set against a pretty white calico background. Each of the Drunkards Path blocks are quilted with double lines. She’s in excellent condition for her age (especially her whites!); she has a couple small light marks, one little mend, and a few loose stitches (see photos). She’s a very soft piece and is clean and ready to be a beautiful accent in her new home!

Measurements: 66” x 75”

PLEASE SELECT SHIPPING FOR QUILT ($20), NOT FOR A SMALL QUILT PIECE ($8). ORDER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHIP OTHERWISE.

All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards the Tahiri Justice Center, a national non-profit organization that supports immigrant survivors of gender-based violence. See Tahiri.org for more on their work.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
