Pattern: Sawtooth Star Quilt
Date: c. 1900-1910 (top), finished later by hand
Provenance/Notes:
The sweetest assortment of stars twinkle across the width of this quilt, pieced in indigos, pinks, checkers, and plaids.
Some beautiful details to note — a creamy background fabric in the star blocks (a lovely contrast to the white background of the quilt), a charming red print on the background fabric, and fan quilting throughout.
This was a quilt that was finished later. The quilt top is circa 1900 to 1910, and was quilted entirely by hand more recently, likely in the last 20-30 years. A bright red trim was used to bring out the red print in the background fabric.
Maker/origin unknown
Washed by hand and in excellent condition with just a couple loose stitches on the edge of one star.
Measurements: 70” x 81”

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep.
