Pattern: Feather Star Variation

A truly stunning heirloom quilt from the 19th century, in an unusual pattern (not found in pattern encyclopedias) — a Feather Star with Lemoyne Star block centers and tulips blooming from the four corners
Notice the beautiful shapes of the negatives spaces and the feather leaves quilted like pinwheels in them. The quilting is breathtaking throughout— a 1/2’ grid in all the in-between spaces.
The turkey red is deep and vibrant, and the once-green fabric — dyed with a fugitive dye — is now a soft fawn color.

Washed by hand and in excellent condition with just a few tiny specks and a couple residual smudges — hardly noticeable.
Measurements: 63” x 82”

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness.
