Provenance/Notes:
An absolutely delightful iteration of the much loved Flower Garden pattern, constructed with hundreds of little hexagon pieces in a multitude of beautiful fabrics from the 1930s and 40s
It’s unusual to find a Flower Garden quilt without any solid fabrics. The many prints on this make it so detailed and vibrant — take a look at some of the closeups! Even the trim is made of a printed fabric.
Two opposing edges are scalloped, following the edges of flower blocks
A generously sized quilt!
Maker/origin unknown
Washed by hand and in very good condition; 5 out of the 76 blocks have some hexagons with varying degrees of wear. The wear is hard to detect because of the prints and the quilting within each and every hexagon keep everything intact. A very usable quilt.
Measurements: 79” x 89”

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness.
