Indigo Blazing Star Quilt
Celebrating the joy of gazing at a sky full of stars
Pattern: Blazing Star
Date: c.1880-1900
Provenance/Notes:
A breathtaking heirloom-quality Blazing Star quilt from the 19th century made with 25 Blazing Star blocks radiating with indigo diamonds against a densely quilted white background
Notice the tiny white stars that dot the indigo fabric used in many of the stars, but also the variety of indigo fabrics used, which gives the quilt a wonderful scrappy quality.
Though not thick, the quilt has a nice layer of batting, which makes the density of the quilting such a feat!
Maker/origin unknown
Washed by hand, this quilt is in great condition for her age. Her age shows in her worn trim (the remains of which are too pretty to replace) and a few tiny dots and a few tiny surface holes — nothing glaring (see last photo).
Measurements: 80” x 82”
Each customer who places an order from this collection will receive a copy of Sophie Blackall’s book “Things to Look Forward To.”
15% of profits from this sale will go towards scholarships at Milkwood Farm, a creative retreat for the children’s book community, run by author and illustrator Sophie Blackall, author of “Things to Look Forward To” and many other wonderful acclaimed children’s books.

Please see www.flyinggeese.co/faqs for more information on shipping.
Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.
Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
