Arbor Window Quilt

$0.00
sold

I think that I shall never see

A poem lovely as a tree.

-Joyce Kilmer / from Trees

And inspired by trees the quilter may have been! True to her pattern name, this Arbor Window quilt showcases a beautiful range of brown fabrics from the mid-1800s, reminiscent of a woody forest in fall. The gorgeous turkey red pieces create lovely windows around each block and are still vibrant and in good condition. The back of the quilt is a pretty homespun fabric in a cream and white grid. This quilt has been loved and a number of the brown fabrics that were made with dyes that weakened the fabric did not survive the test of time. About 10 of the roughly 35 blocks have varying degrees of wear as shown in the photos. There are few little spots where the seams have opened. She has been gently washed by hand and is clean for you to enjoy in whatever way you wish. A truly lovely piece for an antique quilt lover.

Measurements: 73” x 90”

$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.

All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV) — an organization in Atlanta, Georgia that supports women and children survivors of domestic violence through various initiatives. To learn more about their work, visit their website at https://padv.org/

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
