Details:
an indigo star quilt, with black and grey points — not a combination you see every day, and a true stunner
the indigo fabric is dotted with tiny stars and the star points are a combination of blacks and some greys
the stars are made on a smaller scale — 56 of them in total
another beautiful detail — the light spaces are filled with a variety of eye-catching shirting fabrics, some with little hints of purple, green, and pink
a lovely drape and hand
a cotton pole sleeve along both one of the shorter and longer ends for hanging if desired (easily removed)
about 30 of the star points were worn and were each replaced meticulously by hand with coordinating period fabric
washed by hand and in great condition with a few black triangles that show just a touch of wear (not enough to merit replacing) and a touch of residual discoloration in some of the white shirting pieces (see last photo)

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.
