Pattern: Monkey Wrench

Provenance/Notes:
A scrappy quilt in the truest sense of the word. This Monkey Wrench quilt has the most incredible assortment of fabrics from the turn of the century.
It’s hard to choose a favorite block, each one so delightful and whimsical and worthy of her own frame. And all floating in a rich sea of indigo.
This is a soft and cozy quilt, one which was clearly used and loved. She probably spent a little time by a sunny window and has some sun streaks to show for it. All part of her lovely character and age.
Maker/origin unknown
Washed by hand and in great condition with just the aforementioned fading, a couple very minor residual marks, and one block where the black fabric has some often seen dye transfer. See last photo.
Measurements: 64” x 69”

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness.
