Raspberry Checkerboard Quilt

$0.00
sold

It was solid hedge, loops of bramble and thorny
as it had to be with its berries thick as bumblebees.
it drew blood just to get there, but I was queen
of that place, at ten, though the berries shook like fists
in the wind, daring anyone to come in.

Karin Gottshall / from The Raspberry Room

A gorgeous primitive jewel-toned quilt, she’s one that will add a beautiful texture to your space. The raspberry colored background fabric is a stunning contrast to the many offset blue squares. Whimsically interspersed among the blues are touches of brown, pinks and creams, that add a lovely dimensionality. The slightly puffy diamonds are delightful. The back is a beautiful handspun blue fabric. This quilt does have marks of loving wear — some spots of fabric wear, a scattering of stains, and one area of fading. The back has a couple small surface holes and some staining as well. Please see photos. But the richness her color and texture offset the wear, and for those who can embrace her history, she’s a beautiful piece to bring home.

Measurements: 67" x 70”

PLEASE SELECT SHIPPING FOR QUILT ($20), NOT FOR A SMALL QUILT PIECE ($8). ORDER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHIP OTHERWISE.

All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards the Tahiri Justice Center, a national non-profit organization that supports immigrant survivors of gender-based violence. See Tahiri.org for more on their work.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
