              Brown Goose Quilt
Pattern: Brown Goose
Date: c. 1890-1900
Provenance/Notes:
- A wonderfully colorful and scrappy quilt from the turn of the century in a beautiful, graphic pattern whose blocks look different depending on their individual color composition or the angle at which they are viewed
- Take a look at some of the closeups to see the artful way the quilter combined different fabrics in each block — brown florals against pinstripes, a delicate floral against a bold solid
- A vibrant double pink background creates warmth, contrasted by the lovely green border and back
- This is a soft and comfortable quilt
- Hails from the Shenandoah Valley; maker/origin unknown
- Washed by hand and in great condition with just a couple tiny marks and one tiny surface hole. Some fading to the green border. See last photo.
Measurements: 77” x 80”
15% of profits from every quilt sale in this next collection will go towards supporting the work of an organization in the Shenandoah Valley — the Eastern Panhandle Empowerment Center (EPEC)— a non-profit, community-based agency that was founded in 1977 by a group of community volunteers who wanted to help women who were being abused by their partners. Since then, EPEC has grown into a comprehensive resource and counseling center offering service to the region. For more about their work, please visit www.epecwv.org
SHIPPING: $20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount. Price for smaller items have been adjusted (lowered) to account for the lower shipping cost. International customers: If you enter a shipping address outside of the US, you will not be charged for shipping upon checkout. A separate invoice will be sent once shipping is calculated. If you need a shipping estimate, please reach out ahead of time. Orders may be subject to VAT/customs fee of the destination country. Please see www.flyinggeese.co/faqs for more information on shipping.
Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.
Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
