Details:
a gorgeous quilt — almost two centuries old — pieced in a rare grey-scape of checkered, woven, and mourning print fabrics
closeups show the variety of patterns, from checkers to plaids to the sweet periwinkle and red printed fabric in the background of many of the blocks
the back is a beautiful homespun grey plaid
a medium weight quilt
washed by hand and in very good condition for her age
this quilt had a number of very small surface tears and they have been hand-stitched to extend her life
note a few small blue paint marks (not very noticeable because of the color scheme of the quilt)
Provenance: made by Lawrence's Lamm's great aunt from Black Creek, NC
Measurements: 71” x 74”

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through.
