Blooming Rose Appliqué Quilt

$445.00
sold

Pattern: Rose Appliqué

Date: c. 1890-1900

Provenance/Notes:

  • A beautiful, happy quilt to celebrate the arrival of spring with all her blooms

  • Nine lovely blocks fill the body of the quilt with five flowers on slender spring green stems and leaves; a border filled with more flowers and leaves frames the quilt, with yellow leaves that bring brightness to the whole piece

  • Notice that the flowers in the border are of a different construction than the ones in the center

  • Wonderful quilting throughout, with lots of leaf motifs in the white spaces

  • Maker/origin unknown

  • Washed by hand, this piece shows some evidence of age and love, most notably in the worn red trim. There are a couple very light residual stains and some thinning in the turkey red fabric in places, and a couple very small places of appliqué lift. Still lots of life left in this quilt to cherish and enjoy!

Measurements: 84” x 86”

15% of profits from every quilt sale in this collection will go to Tubman, Minnesota’s largest provider of domestic violence shelter services. For more, see tubman.org

SHIPPING: $20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount. Price for smaller items have been adjusted (lowered) to account for the lower shipping cost. Taxes will be added only to Virginia state orders. Orders shipped to destinations outside of Virginia are not taxed.

International customers: If you enter a shipping address outside of the US, you will not be charged for shipping upon checkout. A separate invoice will be sent once shipping is calculated. If you need a shipping estimate, please reach out ahead of time. Orders may be subject to VAT/customs fee of the destination country. Please see www.flyinggeese.co/faqs for more information on shipping.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
