Flower Garden Quilt
Pattern: Flower Garden
Date: c. 1910-1920
Provenance/Notes:
An incredibly unusual cream and white Flower Garden quilt that was once a vibrant red, white, and yellow. The red petals were cut from a fabric that was dyed with a fugitive red dye, and have now dissipated to a cream except for one hexagon at the center of the quilt that was somehow made with a colorfast turkey red fabric!
We are now left with a stunning quilt of white and cream flowers with yellow centers, with a little red heart at the center to remind us of her history
Over 1,000 hexagons make up this quilt and every single one is quilted with a double-line heart
Beautiful rounded corners
Maker/origin unknown
Washed by hand and in great condition with just a few tiny residual specks; the trim on the two shorter ends was shattering and was expertly replaced by hand to fully restore the strength of the quilt (see last photo for where the original trim meets the new)
Measurements: 64” x 82”
15% of profits from every quilt sale in this next collection will go towards Cerf Plus, an organization that has provided emergency relief for craft artists for the last 40 years. From their mission statement: “Building educational resources to empower craft artists to prepare for, navigate and thrive in the wake of emergencies and disasters, CERF+ remains a dedicated partner and advocate for craft artists and the craft community.” For more, see cerfplus.org

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.
Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
