Red Flower Star Appliqué Quilt
Pattern: Flower Star Appliqué
Date: c. 1900-1910
Details:
twenty beautiful Turkey red flower stars twinkle across this gorgeous heirloom quilt, made by an expert quilter with great care and patience
the appliqué-work on the flower stars in incredibly fine, with stitches that are hardly discernible!
an unusual pattern that is pieced like a LeMoyne Star, but with the illusion of a cut-out circle in the center
notice all the feathered wreath quilting beautifully rendered in the white spaces and around the border, and the dense grid quilting that fills the remaining spaces
washed by hand and in great condition, with only the slightest hint of residual discoloration in a couple places on the border, nothing dark and hardly noticeable (see last photo)
Provenance: unknown
Measurements: 67” x 80”
15% of profits from every quilt sale in this next collection will go towards supporting the work of the Safelight, a domestic violence organization based out of Hendersonville, NC that provides a shelter and job training for domestic violence survivors/victims. Part of their job training program involves educating the survivors in sewing skills so that they can use their creativity to help support their families financially. For more on their wonderful work, see https://safelightfamily.org/

If you need a shipping estimate, please reach out ahead of time. Orders may be subject to VAT/customs fee of the destination country. Please see www.flyinggeese.co/faqs for more information on shipping.
Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.
Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
