Details:
a mesmerizingly beautiful, museum-worthy quilt from the mid-19th century, this Sawtooth Triangle is a masterpiece
an incredible variety of fabrics is mixed into every block, with sharp piecing across hundreds of tiny triangles and dense quilting throughout
this quilt feels like a sprinkling of 19th-century color confetti with her many colors and prints (notice the lovely pop of cheddar and aqua blue)
a wonderful sawtooth border along every edge
the lovely brown background print with tiny four-petal flowers almost looks like a quilt pattern in itself; the back is a coordinating fine soft brown stripe
washed by hand and in great overall condition, with just a few tiny bumps and bruises — a couple little triangles with some wear, a couple tiny surface openings, and a few small marks, nothing that stands out at all (see last photo)

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness.
