Star Mosaic Quilt

$0.00
sold

Words are not enough to describe the beauty of this quilt, rendered in a pattern that remains a mystery, but could aptly be called a star mosaic. Her geometry is dazzling, and her fabrics are a true collection of the most beautiful array of colors and prints from the 19th century. This is a quilt that you could happily stare at for hours, like the ceiling of a gorgeous cathedral or an ancient tomb. Take a moment to look at some of the beautiful close-ups. The back is made of a sweet fabric with a tiny pink print on white, which was turned to make the trim. With a touch of extra batting, this quilt is somewhere between a light and medium weight piece and is perfect for the slightly cooler weather. She is in great condition for her age, with just a couple brown squares that are starting to show a little wear and a few small very light stains, which are really not that noticeable in the scheme of the whole piece. She has been washed by hand and is ready to be treasured by her new owner.

Measurements: 65” x 83”

$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.

International customers: If you enter a shipping address outside of the US, you will not be charged for shipping upon checkout. A separate invoice will be sent once shipping is calculated. If you need a shipping estimate, please reach out ahead of time. Tax will be added only to Virginia state orders. Orders shipped to destinations outside of Virginia are not taxed.

All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards House of Ruth in Washington DC. Founded in 1976, House of Ruth empowers women, children and families to rebuild their lives and heal from trauma, abuse and homelessness. For more, see their website www.houseofruth.org

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
