Sixteen Sunflowers Quilt

$0.00
sold

An exquisite 19th century Sunflower quilt with sixteen beautiful sunflowers with concentric circles of diamond petals framed by a double sawtooth border. The seafoam colored trim adds a wonderful contrasting touch. The feathered wreaths in all the in-between spaces beautifully echo the circular sunflowers. When repairs are beautifully done, they add such a lovely sense to history to a quilt, and such is the case with this quilt. See photos to see the circular patch repairs on two of the sunflower’s centers. This quilt is in very good condition for her age with just a few minor issues to note — a few pinprick marks and tiny light stains, a few tiny spots of fabric discoloration on the green fabric, a couple small surface holes on back, and a touch of aging to the background fabric here and there. Overall she’s a stunning antique piece, worthy of a spot on a museum wall, but one that has been washed by hand and is ready for you to love and enjoy.  A larger size for those looking for something to cover their bed.

Measurements: 90” x 93”

$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.

International customers: If you enter a shipping address outside of the US, you will not be charged for shipping upon checkout. A separate invoice will be sent once shipping is calculated. If you need a shipping estimate, please reach out ahead of time. Tax will be added only to Virginia state orders. Orders shipped to destinations outside of Virginia are not taxed.

All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards YWCA Queens in New York, a non-profit “dedicated to [their] mission of eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.” See more at ywcaqueens.org. This donation is honor of Jennifer’s grandmother, who helped found and lead the YWCA Queens many years ago, and whose love for art, flowers, and quilting inspired this collection.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
