Swiss Dot Red Nine-Patch

$0.00
sold

so much depends
upon

a red wheel
barrow

glazed with rain
water

beside the white
chickens.

Wiliam Carlos Wiliams / The Red Wheelbarrow

It’s surprisingly hard to come across a simple, bright red beauty like this one. Against a background of cherry red with tiny white dots, an array of beautiful indigo calico and white patches create a pleasing pattern. Study the quilt from a distance and you can see the artistic eye of the quilter; the arrangement of the colors is balanced yet unexpected. The pink squares towards the center are a favorite accent! She’s edged in lovely indigo calico (with one short area where the quilter ran out and filled in with a plaid!) and has a soft white back. She’s in good structural condition with no noticeable fabric damage. She has a few small scattered stains on her front and one area of small stains on the back. Held up to the light, you will notice a couple small areas where the batting has shifted (this is pictured in top of last photo), but this is really not very noticeable otherwise. She’s been washed and hung to dry and is clean and ready for your home!

Measurements: 75” x 75”

PLEASE SELECT SHIPPING FOR QUILT ($20), NOT FOR A SMALL QUILT PIECE ($8). ORDER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHIP OTHERWISE.

All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards the Tahiri Justice Center, a national non-profit organization that supports immigrant survivors of gender-based violence. See Tahiri.org for more on their work.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
