Triangle Tiles Grain Sack Quilt
Pattern: Triangle Tiles
Date: c. 1920-1930
Provenance/Notes:
A true scrappy quilt made for warmth by a quilter with an eye for beauty
Notice the beautiful color scheme in the image of the whole quilt, with cooler tones in the blocks offset by the warm orange sashing punctuated by light pink squares. A few of the blocks pick up on some of the tones in the sashing.
The inset cream border has light remnant prints from the grain sacks that were bleached and repurposed
Each of the blocks has a great combination of scrappy fabrics, including lots of greys (including mourning prints) and indigo blues
Medium weight yet meticulously quilted with double rod lines throughout
Maker and origin unknown
Washed by hand and in excellent condition with just one tiny surface hole and a few little residual marks on back (see last photo)
Measurements: 63” x 75”

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.
