Pattern: Triple Irish Chain

Provenance/Notes:
A well-loved beauty, whose colors have washed to a beautiful palette of light sea blues and is incredible soft and cozy to the touch
Notice the wonderful fading to the indigo fabrics and the tiny red dotted fabric used in the background
From a distance you can see that the pattern is visually broken by the lighter areas where the white squares were likely dyed with a fugitive blue dye and have turned almost white over time
A great quilt to fold and use as an accent, but also clean and ready to snuggle under and enjoy!
Maker/origin unknown
Washed by hand and in loved condition with surface wear to the white squares and to places along the indigo border; the trim was replaced at some point to reinforce the edges
Measurements: 68” x 74”

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through.
