for the collector, this extraordinary Sawtooth Star quilt is a museum-worthy piece and likely the oldest one in this collection
the background is a very rich old indigo blue with a pale blue print, the Turkey red star centers have a beautiful chrome yellow floral overlay, and the back is a rich madder brown
meticulously quilted with thread that matches the different fabrics
81 star small blocks are richly framed by 150 Flying Geese triangles
generously sized
washed by hand and in overall very good condition for her age, with some evidence of her long history; a handful of stars show some scattered stains on their cream points, the cream points have darkened with age, there are tiny bits of wear to some of the red centers (see last two photos), and a small blemish on the back madder fabric
