Yellow Star Quilt

$645.00
sold

Celebrating the joy of the sun coming up each day

Pattern: Columbian Star variation

Date: c. 1920-1940

Provenance/Notes:

  • A stunning pattern rendered in yellow and white, which has become even more beautiful over time as one of the yellow fabrics used has faded to a pale yellow, leaving an abstracted pattern of color throughout the quilt

  • One yellow is a golden color, the other now a light buttery yellow

  • A quilt that will add a glow of warmth to your space

  • Maker/origin unknown

  • Washed by hand and in very good condition with some wear to the trim and a few tiny marks — still very strong and usable!

Measurements: 76” x 77”

Each customer who places an order from this collection will receive a copy of Sophie Blackall’s book “Things to Look Forward To.”

15% of profits from this sale will go towards scholarships at Milkwood Farm, a creative retreat for the children’s book community, run by author and illustrator Sophie Blackall, author of “Things to Look Forward To” and many other wonderful acclaimed children’s books.

SHIPPING: $20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount. Price for smaller items have been adjusted (lowered) to account for the lower shipping cost. Taxes will be added only to Virginia state orders. Orders shipped to destinations outside of Virginia are not taxed.

International customers: If you enter a shipping address outside of the US, you will not be charged for shipping upon checkout. A separate invoice will be sent once shipping is calculated. If you need a shipping estimate, please reach out ahead of time. Orders may be subject to VAT/customs fee of the destination country. Please see www.flyinggeese.co/faqs for more information on shipping.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
